The Egg Story

This might just possibly be the story I've told the most times in my life.
My big younger sister (yes, that is how life is when you are 158cm tall) used to ask me to tell her this story again and again in those halcyon days when she was smaller than me and I could boss her around all the time
It's about the briefest story ever, but retelling it to my colleagues' kids the other day brought happy memories.

I was a toddler and already as dreadfully picky and delightfully OCD as I have grown up to be. I ate the fried egg with a soft yolk someone had served me and then very fastidiously wiped my plastic plate clean with my napkin.
My mom came by when I was done and asked me whether I'd had my egg yet.
"Yes, Mommy."
"But you can't have had it. Your plate is perfectly clean!"
The long and the short of it is that I eventually did manage to persuade her that I had indeed eaten, but it took a while.

That, and having the time of my life while the nine and ten year old boys my mom taught and cared for held my arms and legs and swung me back and forth before dropping me onto a mattress is my earliest memory.

I'm just going to post whatever makes me glad, mad or sad...but mostly glad.

I need motivation to attempt to write. This might work for me.
There's no overall theme here.

I'd like this blog to contain my short fiction stories and my poetry.
I'd like to write about my life so that I don't forget (more) of the wonderful things that have moved me and made me who I am.
I'd like this blog to be filled with witty quotes, movie clips, songs, stories and poems from real (as opposed to me :-P) authors, links to Pinterest and Twitter and Youtube and news articles, and anything else I come across that I think should be shared with the world.
I'd like this to be the beginning of a project that goes on, and on, and on.
I wonder who will end up reading this.

By the way, HAPPY GLORIOUS 25th OF MAY to all my fellow Discworld fans out there!
Truth! Freedom! Justice! Reasonably priced love! And a hardboiled egg.
HAPPY GEEK PRIDE DAY, too!
Also, happy birthday Tito, Happy Youth Day, Happy Towel Day...wow, this is a happy day.
Actually, if you search it up, some of it is not so happy, but most of it is, so enjoy and wear a lilac if Vimes is one of your heroes!

P.S. Yes, very good. I like people who notice details and nitpick over them (in other words, I like people like me). It has indeed been the 26th of May for 51 minutes, but I don't consider it truly tomorrow until I wake up, so the GLORIOUS 25th OF MAY it is!
